Synopsis
“Why did you jump?”
Albert thought this question could never be answered. His friend, Erwin, had just killed himself. Erwin was completely normal – exceptional even. Not only was he a valedictorian, and a national youth gymnast, but he also had a gorgeous girlfriend. Albert was none of that. They had nothing in common, but their friendship was impenetrable. So, why did he jump? Albert thought this question could never be answered. That is, until he found himself in Erwin’s last dream, chasing a ghost that refuses to talk. The deeper he falls into Erwin’s dream, the stranger and darker are the secrets he uncovers. His bigger fear, however, is learning the truth about why his friend killed himself, before waking up from the dream.
Third Man Syndrome, written by Terrance Tan and directed by Ian Loy, is a necessary conversation about suicide, a brave dialogue with the people left behind, a shout-out for support, whilst finding one’s courage in the face of fear.

Reviewed by psychologists and therapists, this play is not expected to increase risk for young people with lived experience. While many scenes reflect realities that may already be familiar, certain moments may feel particularly intense for parents and caregivers.
Some audience seating is in close proximity to the action.
There will be some flashing lights, loud noises and haze effect used during this performance.
A SOS Crisis Counsellor will be available at each performance. The trained professional will offer immediate support and resources to audience members in need, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
This play is designed as an immersive theatre production, which means some audience seating is placed within the performance area to create a more experiential experience.
We’ve got a limited number of these immersive seating spots up for grabs. Think super close to the action, right inside the stage space.
Heads up: these seats are in close proximity to the actors and do not have seat backs (yes, it’s that immersive!). These special spots open up 20 minutes before show time and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Panic attacks have crippled Kathryn since childhood. Desperate to overcome them, she focuses on her favourite thing in life: making movies. But her stop-motion figurines keep falling apart — just like her confidence. New schoolmate Nadia might be the key to making her movie work, if only Kathryn can muster up the courage to make a friend.
From the producers of 12 Going On 13 and Third Man Syndrome, Scaredy Kat Presents is a youth theatre production in Singapore exploring panic attacks and friendship that blends live performance, puppetry and animation to deliver a big-hearted story about taking risks, making art and learning to fly.
Early bird sales starts on 1 April 2026.
